Would you like to see more scholarly articles at Weighted Glory like my series (and megathread) on Junia?

Well, you’re in luck, because I would love to write more high-quality articles on women in the Bible and church history! I would also like to:

  • Finish my historical fantasy novel about a fourth-century female deacon, a re-working of Anne Brontë’s The Tenant of Wildfell Hall
  • Begin work on a PhD in church history with my dissertation on Romans 16:7 (you can read my application essay on my proposed dissertation here)
  • Author The Junia Code: The Bible’s Female Apostle and the Conspiracy to Unmake Her, a re-working of my dissertation for popular consumption
  • Produce a series of short books (30,000 – 50,000 words each) on women in the Bible and church history, women like Priscilla, Phoebe, Deborah, Mary Magdalene, Esther, Julian of Norwich, Ursula de Jesús, Juana Inés de la Cruz, Pandita Ramabai, Catherine Booth, Aimee Semple McPherson, and many, many more!

Right now, the only barrier to me working on my articles and books is time. I currently work full-time in human resources in mental health, which means that my only time for researching and writing is on evenings and weekends. But—as I have written elsewhere—my children are both disabled and require considerable attention. My son in particular is bright and fun and infectiously happy, but it’s hard to write a scholarly article with your autistic preschooler excitably interrupting you every five minutes.

My husband and I are prayerfully considering ways for me to transition to a full-time writing ministry. For now, we would like to hire engaging and quality weekend care for our son and are funding three hours per week of this ourselves. We also spend approximately $30 a month on this Web site (Web hosting, domain registration, WordPress theme, purchasing stock photos) and have saved thousands of dollars by having me design and set up Weighted Glory myself.

If you want to partner in my writing ministry, the biggest thing you can do for me is to pray. Please pray for my children’s health and well-being, for my PhD application process, for my articles submitted to third parties for publication, and that I would find quiet and reflective writing and researching time. Pray also for my husband’s career; if he begins making $30K – $40K more than he currently is (which he has done in the past), we should have no problem transitioning me to a full-time writing ministry.

If you feel called to do more, please consider making a donation. Every $15 donated pays for 1 hour of care for my son, and 1 hour of research and writing for me. Every $120 donated guarantees at least one high-quality blog article on women in the Bible, women in church history, or egalitarian theology.

So long as I have a full-time job elsewhere, donations will strictly be spent on Web site maintenance and research/writing time (not personal or living expenses), and I will always be accountable to donors as to how I am stewarding their money.

There are two ways for you to donate:

Make a one-time donation with PayPal:

Donate any amount, but every $15 donated pays for one hour of writing and research time.

Become a monthly sponsor on Patreon:

Donate 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours, or 8 hours of writing and research time per month. There are also $5/month and $10/month tiers.

BONUS: Become my first Patreon supporter and you can pick the next Bible passage that I write an article about! (See here for a list of options)

Every hour of care that you donate helps my articles and books get written. Thank you and God bless!
